It's the Things That Make You Go MMMM

MMMM stands for Most Mortifying Mom Moment. I have had a few in my relatively short time as a mom, but my most recent experience with a MMMM came just a few days ago.

I took Will to Costco to do some shopping. I still have some waves of nausea in the afternoon, so I really have to force myelf to get out and about. I do it because it is sometimes easier to entertain Will away from the house when I am not feeling well, and Costco, with its lights, people, and samples, is a surefire way to get at least at hour's worth of entertaintment for him. I was wearing yucky old sweats and a zip up jacket with just my bra on underneath. I put on jeans, but decided not to bother putting a shirt on under the jacket, as it is cold out and I wouldn't need to take it off.

We got to Costco, I got Will situated in the cart, and as we were heading into the store, he started fiddling with the zipper on my jacket. He likes zippers, buttons, necklaces, etc., and plays with them a lot. He especially likes to zip things and unzip things. To be honest, I wasn't really paying that much attention at the moment, as I was putting my Costco card back in my wallet and getting out my grocery list.

We walked around Costco for about 45 minutes that day, chatting with the Sample People, meandering the aisles, smiling at passerby. When I got up to the register, I pulled my cart up behind an elderly lady and when she turned around her eyes widened.

"Dear," she said softly, "Do you know that your blouse is open?"

I looked down and saw that Will had unzipped my jacket nearly to my navel. And my white bra was clearly visible, along with a hefty amount of pregnant breast. I immediately zipped myself up to my chin and looked around, hoping no one saw.

But of course people saw. Will had fiddled with my jacket when we first arrived at Costco, my friends. No wonder we got extra samples from the pizza guy!

Care to share your MMMM? Or, any embarrassing moments? I've got loads of 'em from my pre-mom days. . . we could just called it Most Memorable MessedUp Moments!

Oh that's FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

The most immediate thing that pops (no pun intended) into my mind . . . Lil Pumpkin would see me getting changed and figured out that we call them "bo.obs" in our house. She thought it was tremendously funny to say this word and giggle hysterically. I tried my best to explain that it was okay to say this word at home, but not in public. But she was not even 2 yrs old, ya know?!

Flash forward to our 6-month post-placement visit with OUR SOCIAL WORKER, who also had along with her a student intern from a local college. Lil Pumpkin was about 22 months old at the time. Everything going splendidly well (too well, eh), and Social Worker and Intern were leaving. I had LP in my arms, when she reached for my one brea.st and SCREAMED the word "BO.OBS!" with a huge, proud grin.

I shrugged, looked at our guests, and said, "We call it 'b.oobs' in our house. She watches me when I get changed, and asked what they were called. I am just glad she didn't grab yours."

Luckily, our Social Worker had a good sense of humor, and said "Surrrreee, yeah right!" But laughed and got a kick out of it.

WHEW!

I'm not a mom, so I don't have a moment to share. But thanks for sharing yours. that was absolutely hilarious. I'm sorry no one else told you sooner. I can't believe that!

Yeah, I would have told someone if I'd seen it, but then again, my friend pointed out that some people actually CHOOSE to dress that way, so you just never know!

And we call 'em boobs (boo to Will) in our house, too, Ms. J... and Will is also fond of grabbing 'em and saying Boos!

First, congratulations on the second trimester!!! It really is the glory months. Good stuff! :)

oh I am sorry. that is amusing but I feel bad if you are mortified. I have been there. I remember walking around with baby poop on me and wondering all day (even asking people) if they smelled poop. "uh yeah, it is coming from you." lol. ah, motherhood.

Awesome! I haven't had that one yet, but I did have a guy point out to me once that I had stuff all over my shirt and tell me that "when I figured it out" I would stop wearing white.

Hahaha! That is hilarious. I love those moment that make you cringe but then become the best stories once you are over the initial mortification!

I just had one this past Sunday! I was wearing a new relatively loose shirt, holding L as we walked in to church and I guess somwhere along the way she had completely pulled my shirt down on one side without my realizing it. Everyone in the church entrance and hall got a huge flash of Mel boob and TACKY cotton brown nursing bra that was completely mismatched from my black slacks and black and white shirt. I feel you!!!!

Oh no! At least you got extra pizza? There's really not much I can say to be optimistic about this particular experience. So instead I'll just be happy you're in the second trimester. :)

My most mortifying moment so far was the day my car door locks froze shut at Walmart and I thought unlocking the back door via the trunk would be a good idea. Long story short, more than half an hour and three policemen later, I finally managed to get out of the trunk.

The day that my son asked my 2 husbands overweight grandma if she had a baby in her tummy. We all sat there in disbelief and tried to change the subject. How do you get yourself out of that one??!! I love the Costco bra story...to funny!

Love that story! Sorry :)
I don't even know where to begin with the amount of embarrassing crap that has happened to me.
I think boob leakage in public is always the winner for me (yes, it happened alot)
