Calling All Girl Names. . .

We have picked out our boy name, but are drawing complete blanks on girl names. And according to the majority, both in our poll here and also to those that render guesses after looking at my stomach, this little one is a girl. (Although my husband and I still have no guesses or preferences ourselves.)

If you don't mind sharing some of your favorites, I would really appreciate it.

And yes, I know, we don't have to have the name picked out the same day that we know the sex of this baby. But I kind of wanted to start calling the baby by its name as soon as possible. Call me crazy. . . but give me some good suggestions, anyway!

Oh, and if you have really good boy names, we haven't exactly filled out the birth certificate, either! :)

Well, I desperately wanted to use Ella, but we went with my second choice so it fit with DH's grandma's name.
I think for a boy Emmitt is cute...

Oh, Ella is gorgeous! We are also trying to fit in a grandmother's name for the middle. I'll add it to the list!

Can you give us a hint of your style? My favoritte names are not-so-trendy ones- Jessica, Catherine, Melissa. Asking DH- his favorites are Catherine, Madeleine, Grace, and Sophia.

Yes we need a hint on your style. I'll be going for Italian/Spanish names such as Gabriella, Adriana, Francesca, Mariela, Paulina, Valeria, Daniela, etc. However if I weren't going for those types I like Paige.....Paige pretty as a princess!

I definitely like the not-so-trendy, older fashioned names. We have Emma and Grace on our list and the middle name we want is Evelyn (for his Grandma). But that's a toughie, because then some of the old-fashioned names sound TOO old with Evelyn.

Keep 'em coming!

My favorite girl's name has always been Angelina. But I'm not allowed to use it because it doesn't work with our last name. (And I agree, it would be weird.) I also like Samantha, Annie, Lucy, and Christina.

I'm sure you will find the perfect name.

Great taste you have :)

Hannah

Names are so personal, I wouldn't be brave enough to suggest any!

Personally, we're going with short, simple, easily spellable names that nobody can eff up, :)

My fave names have been my fave since I as in my early 20's and first going through IF treatments - Abigail, Emma, Hannah. Back then, no one had those names. Now they're all over the freakin place. Gah.

We have a girl's name picked out that my mom made fun of and then it became a moot point. But I don't care. It's still on reserve for when we finally bring her home.

But I'm with geohde - outside of my own name *grin* I really can't suggest one as it's such a personal decision.

I also love the name Ella but am finding it's starting to get a tad, overused. I love Stella as an alternate variation but also love Jade, Carden, Fallon, Eva and Scout.

Happy pickings!

I have boy girl twins and my husband was 100% "cutesy matching names" so that was out for us. I picked the girl's first name and the boy's middle name and he did the opposite. Their names are Ryan Nicholas and Allison Elizabeth (we call her Alli though). I always thought Leah and Abby were pretty names too. I wanted to be able to find things personalized for them easily so I went with traditional spellings.
Good luck, I voted that I think it is a girl too :)

How about Evelyn Grace or Evelyn Emma? That way she will have a beautiful yet unique first name, but still have the old fashioned but now very popular middle name? My niece is named Emma and she is 12. When my sister named her she was the only Emma around, but now I think it is the #1 name chosen in the US. We call her Emma Lou for fun, but she hates it. She is actually Emma Elizabeth. As everyone says, just take our two, three, four cents and throw it in a fountain! You'll know when the right name hits you!

Girl names are so fun to me and so personal. I have stopped trying to think to much about names, but when I was allowing myself to, I was looking at Celtic names. Several were so pretty and unique.

One more day, I am so anxious to hear what you baby is!

I have always like the more classical names like Catherine, Hannah, and Anna among many others. My name for a girl if I could get away with it, and if I ever get the opportunity to use it would be Lydia Naomi. They're Biblical and beautiful. For boys I like Titus and Conan as they are strong names.

I'll give you our favorites. Since we live in opposite parts of the country, I'm not worried about you stealing them. ;)

Not necessarily in order:

Girl
1. Rowan
2. Kate
3. Elisa

Boy
1. Thomas
2. Nathan
3. Evan
4. Justin

I know it's too late now that you know it's a boy but Ella would be a beautiful name for a girl.
