Yes. I am having to remind myself how much I love my mother right now.
Deep breath.
I love my mother.
But seriously.
Is it completely necessary to call up your daughter, who is 38 weeks pregnant, and ask her, "Did they measure all of his bones during your ultrasound?"
"Yes. Why?"
"Well, I hope they did it correctly, because one of my friends just had a grandbaby boy last week, and her daughter thought everything was okay. . .the baby was born without a femur and missing two fingers."
Deep breath.
I love my mother. I love my mother. I love my mother.

heheheehe...oh man, that mother of yours...
Oh, no. Not what you need right now or, rather, ever!
Mother's...they're just crazy! I blame menopause.
Hehehe. Ah, people love the stories to scare us, don't they?
What? so not what you need right now. Is this her first grandbaby? If so, that somewhat explains she must just be nervous but seriously, so not what you need. hang in there :)
Yep, first grandbaby. And to be fair, my little brother had a birth defect where he did not have all of the bones in his fingers, so her fears might not be totally irrational.
That being said, I wish she would keep her thoughts and fears to herself!
lol I'm sorry I probably shouldn't laugh, but that's such a mom thing to say right along with the mom timing.
I think we all should contribute and write a book - Things NOT to say EVER to a pregnant lady no matter How little restraint and tact you may have
Oh my gosh!!! Does she have nothing better to do than say crazy stuff like that??? Also seriously, whenever people have stories like that, I always doubt whether the doctor REALLY did what they said. You know, such as COUNT THE TOES/FINGERS!
Your little man is perfect - He just IS!
Oh man! You love your mother! You love your mother! Shame she probably thought she was "helping"...
Not long to go now!!!
OMG, people say THEE DUMBEST SH*T!
Hmmm, and IF ya had a test which determined the baby was missing two fingers WTF are you supposed to do about it? Say "sorry, no thanks!"
Shaking my head at the dumb stuff people say to expectant parents (esp. ones like us who have gone through so much).
Forgot to stop by and telling you congrats on the full term!
Don't you just wish people could keep things to themselves sometimes!
Sigh...
People always seem to remember the horror stories...

Um, do we have the same mother?
A few months back she was telling me about a documentary she was watching where a woman mentioned she had had three miscarriages (I have had three too), and my mom said "She was whining about it so much! I wanted to tell her it wasn't as big of a deal as she was making it out to be!"
I couldn't respond, I could only change the topic. The woman comes out of left field with stuff sometimes... I've got to consciously remind myself she loves me!
Good luck with that one! Something tells me she's going to be just as subtle with her parenting advice too... :)
Oh man katie! I swear God is showing us how NOT to be like our moms once we have kids! My mom hasn't seen the twins in 4 months since she has been away getting her masters. I asked today (she's been home over a week!) if she'd like to come babysit for 2 HOURS this weekend so she can see the kids...."Oh I really can't, have to go see a concert down at the waterfront, but have to check the dates!" W-T-F? I am pissed....we will SO not be like that with our kids/grandbabies, I SWEAR!!!!!!!!! love you and feel your pain!
