Is This Normal

Calling all IVFers.

Of course, this happens AFTER 5:00 and my clinic is closed. I could call the oncall doc, but I don't want to be a freak. So, I will reveal my freakiness to you.

I have some brown spotting. It's enough to wear a pad, though not enough to soak one. Three days past egg retrieval and one day into the progesterone shots. Is this normal? Or am I destined to flush those poor embryos out before they even have a chance?

The insanity is creeping in.

No advice, but still praying over here.

If it's past egg retrieval then couldn't it just be from them shoving the needle through your ovaries and your ovaries not liking it? You don't have any embryos in you now right? No transfer yet?

It could still be residual from the ER. When you go in for your transfer, you'll have a better idea of what's going on, and they can use the ultrasound to make sure the lining looks good. Call you doctor today and let him know, if it's freaking you out, I would suspect it's nothing serious.

I don't have any advice to offer with this, but I just thought I'd let you know that I'm thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I think it's fine. I agree that it's probably residual.

And your fert report from yesterday is EXCELLENT. I would be thrilled.

PLEASE try not to worry so much and trust that all will be fine. Worrying isn't going to do anything good for you at this point. You need to relax and focus on making your body feel as good as it possibly can.

xoxo

Ugh. I just read my comment and can't believe I actually told you to "relax." Feel free to hit me. Or, say something equally insensitive.

hi - lurker delurking here.

hahaha to tracy's comment. i completely understand how "just relax" just slips out of your mouth sometimes.

please do not worry about the brown blood unless it starts to turn red. brown blood usually indicates old residual blood - so it may be from the ER, or old lining being shed away. either way, i think you're totally OK.

as for your previous post - i had 15 retrieved and only 7 fertilized. of the 7, i had 2 excellent blasts, 1 OK blast, and 1 morula on the day of my transfer. we transferred the 2 excellent ones, and 1 ended up freezing.

so between the morula and the OK blast, one of them was strong enough to make it to day 6 freezing. so i'm sure that many of your embies will have time to catch up. i know 5 doesnt sound like a lot, but at the end of the day, they wont transfer more than 2 anyway (maybe 3, at most). remember - its quality, not quantity!

good luck on Friday!!!

Wish I had some good advice to ease your worries. But I agree with everyone else, if it's still brown and not red blood, I would say everything should be fine.

Still keeping my fingers tightly crossed.

I don't have any advice, but I'm still praying everything goes the best way possible.

I'd guess it might be, as Chicklet says, from the ER. I spotted for days after having a needle shoved through the old vayjayjay.

brown means old blood...which means it's probably been floating around up there for a bit since retrieval. Not an IVF expert here....but i'd say it makes the most logical sense.

get some good leep tonight and good luck tomorrow!
